MYSA celebrated this year’s theme “Finding Freedom: Family” by hosting our Have Tea with a Refugee event at Gawler Place Canopy in Rundle Mall.
An estimated 66 million people are currently displaced, either within their home country or in a foreign country. Approximately 20,000 are currently settled in Australia. Over half are children and young people.
We invited members of the public to share a high tea with a young refugee and hear about their journeys, their challenges, their hopes and dreams for the future while also sharing back!
We had free multicultural activities and performances such as henna tattoos, a glitter bar, African Drumming, origami workshops and more.
Stay in the loop to join us for our next Have Tea With a Refugee. Chat, Sip & Connect!

We acknowledge and pay our respect to the Kaurna people, the traditional owners of this land in which we meet and learn. As an organisation built by those with roots that stem beyond these borders, we are committed to the unity of cultures and will continue to support and be guided by the traditional land owners.
